This established, medium-sized engineering consultancy offers that opportunity, with a Hastings base and projects across New Zealand. Add Hawke’s Bay’s beaches, cycle trails, wineries and outdoor lifestyle, and there’s plenty to enjoy beyond work too.
The opportunity
You’ll join a busy structural team working on industrial buildings, large storage and processing facilities, and structures supporting heavy machinery. There’s also scope to contribute to commercial projects and seismic assessment and strengthening, depending on your experience.
The work offers variety, technical challenge and exposure to the full project lifecycle. You’ll develop structural designs, coordinate with technicians, support consenting and stay involved through construction, working with clients and resolving practical issues on site.
For an intermediate engineer, this is an opportunity to build your confidence in managing projects, with experienced engineers available for guidance. For a senior engineer, there’s scope to lead delivery, manage client relationships and help develop junior colleagues.

What you’ll bring
You’ll have structural design experience in New Zealand and be ready to take responsibility for your work. Ideally, you’ll bring five or more years’ experience, although engineers with three-plus years and the capability to grow into the role are also encouraged to apply.
Commercial building experience provides a useful foundation for the industrial work, so previous industrial project experience isn’t essential.
Just as valuable are clear communication, initiative and a collaborative approach. At senior level, you’ll be comfortable working directly with clients, coordinating project delivery and guiding others. Chartered status would be valued.
